Bracing plugs

Hello everyone! I have a large number of existing bracing. I need to create and weld the plugs in the cut-out areas. Is it possible to do this using a grasshopper? I don’t have enough experience, please direct me. The first thought is to determine the location of the plug by comparing the areas of the faces. But there are no ideas on how to determine the exact location. five me the right direction pls, maybe this is not so hard as I think

Hi,

I think we need a bit more information in order to help you. But I can try by adding some assumptions.

If the model is created with Grasshopper to begin with I would simply add the brace connection with the extra details to a custom component.

If the model is manually modelled you can deconstruct components using Tekla-GH toolset and then locate and add the details you need. Alternatively you could swap out the components to another component (custom component) that contains this detail. This whole swapping operation could be done via GH.

I can’t help you more than that since most of it is assuming your situation anyway.

Cheers, Oskar

Hello, Oskar! Thanks for answering! This is the existing model in tekla. I think, that I cant use this way with components, because the part of components was exploded. I can filter all of these bracings and deconstruct or make mesh for example. But what to do next…

Ok, so existing model with components already created.

You can filter out components that are relevant using object pipeline component in GH and then you can deconstruct the components to get the geometry in GH. After that you can add the objects needed with some further scripting.
