simple sphere then created matching diameter cylinder at its centre outwards and boolean unioned them but cylinder vanishes ?

The Surface intersector in V5 is getting confused.
The V5 work-around is to explode the Cylinder, use the burried flat end to Trim the sphere, and Join the results together.
The intersectors in V6 are better so the Union works as expected without a work-around.
