Bongo Excavator Animation

The official case study on IK animation has an example of an excavator , how is the constraint path “track” for the excavator set?

The track is created in a few steps and with lots of trial and error.

excavator B 001.3dm (1.4 MB) In this preliminary version of the model you see the first step. It’s obvious that stretching the arm can have strange consequences.

excavator 003 tris 019.3dm (8.1 MB) Then the curve is improved and extended to get the bin back up.

Only then later in the final version the upwards swing and retraction was added.

In fact the excavator isn’t an ideal example of the combination of Bongo’s IK and the ObjectToPath feature. In real life I guess most of the IK is done in the head of the excavator’s operator :slight_smile:.
