Black Viewport after Rhino 6 upgrade (Parallel Desktop)

Hi,

The office I work for uses Macs. We are running Rhino for Windows via Parallels.

We have just upgraded to Rhino 6. However when we open rhino all we see is black viewports. Greatly appreciate any assistance.

Please check Rhino 6 SR27 cant orbit in Parallels Desktop and the given solution.

You may already know this, but bootcamp is the only officially supported windows solution for mac. If you do get parallels running, it will break again. That’s why it’s unsupported.

we highly recommend Bootcamp for running windows on a mac.

Not supported :

  • ARM processors
  • Linux
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7
  • Windows XP 64-bit
  • Windows Vista, NT, 95, 98, ME, or 2000
  • Windows 32-bit all versions
*** Virtualization systems on macOS such as VMWare and Parallels**

Hi Nathan,

Thank you very much for that - its a good temporary work around until we can figure something else out (unfortunately this version doesn’t seem to have the arctic preview working). The next V6 update apparently will repair this issue.

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for your response. We had bootcamp previously but changed to parallels for a better work flow but did not anticipate this issue. Hopefully the next update of V6 will fix some of these issues - however we may need to look at returning to a bootcamp configuration as you suggest to take full advantage of Rhino 6.

Consider buying Windows computers with Nvidia display adapters and avoid the Bootcamp AMD driver issues.
Keep your Apples for everything except Rhino for Windows.
Best of both worlds.
