Baking Model Objects to Layouts

Hello, I am trying to bake geometry with attributes using the “Model Objects” and “Content Cache” to a layout view and it seems impossible. I would like to be able to apply line weights/types/color etc. for baking objects in a layout view (not a detail/3D model on a layout) but it seems that once you pass geometry into a “Model Object” component you can no longer bake it to a layout (manually or through a content cache component).

If I have a layout view open and using geometry only right click → bake, then the geometry will bake to the layout BUT if you bake from Model Object or use the Content Cache, it will only bake in the 3D model.

My reason for wanting to bake to layouts is for creating graphs, charts, and legends, etc. without that stuff coexisting with my 3D model where it may be messed up on accident and I would not have to keep turning new layers off in a layout detail view that would overlap the graphs/charts.

I am working in Rhino 8 SRS (8.8.24170) and I am trying to find a way using the new native grasshopper/rhino 8 components, I know Elefront will work but it seems to me that Elefront is slowly being absorbed into native components and would like to prepare for the future.

Baking to Layouts/Details is not yet supported in GH (with native components). We do plan to implement these features and they’re on our roadmap, but I don’t have an ETA on when they will get worked on. At the moment, the Drafthorse plugin seems to be the best option
