With artistic viewport in Rhino 6, “desktop” my drawing/model is very slow with move or rotate, the other viewports are much better and reasonable oke.
In Rhino 5 it is super fast (the same drawing)
I use 3dconnexion space mouse and mouse
On my laptop with Rhino 6 with a normal mouse it was oke in artistic viewport.
I think your problem is your GPU. The Quadro FX 580 supports at most OpenGL 3.3, Rhino 6 recommended minimum OpenGL support is 4.1 (although in theory 3.3 should work). Rhino 6 demands more of the GPU than Rhino 5.
There aren’t really any newer drivers that I could find, apart from this: Quadro Desktop/Notebook Driver Branch 340 U15 | R340 U15 (342.01) | Windows 10 64-bit | NVIDIA - according the release notes it contains OpenGL 4.4 support, so maybe you could try that. Note though that this driver showed up only after clicking for non-certified drivers. Not sure how well this one is supported.
That said your GPU is getting a bit old (9 years since release), so maybe also good moment to consider upgrading for better Rhino 6 viewport performance.
