Artifacts on model when I convert from Sub D to NURBS after split

Hi all,
I created a motorcycle helmet in SubD and then converted to NURBS to do detailing that is difficult or impossible in SubD. I decided to do most the work on one side and then cut the model in half since it is symmetrical that would take care of it. But when I slice it in two, I get artifacts (see images attached) on a radius at the point of the split.

This should not happen…is anyone else seeing this phenomena and is there anything you can do to alleviate it?

Could you share this 3dm file before applying this split command?

Yep, thanks for the quick response Jessesn…see attached

This is a symmetrical modeling, I advice you use the ExtractSrf command to instead of the Split.

I sent you the wrong file…try splitting this one, you’ll see the artifact where indicated on my first message.

I think this is an issue related the object’s display mesh, you can fix it via turn on the object custom mesh setting.

BTW, more details about object mesh setting

I have set my mesh settings to max and I still have the artifacts I’ve shared with you Jessesn. However, the surfaces look good, However when I render for presentations, the artifacts make the surface look unresolved.

I just thought I’d bring it to you folks attention, but, thanks so much for looking at this for me…I sure appreciate it…

Perhaps you can show what your mesh settings are? For instance these work just fine:

Got it thanks
