I’m using Rhino WIP on my Mac and struggling to measure Area.
Have tried with both surface and hatch and after selecting area and units and enter then nothing happens and box disappears.
Not sure if I’m doing something wrong and there’s a glitch and not working in Rhino WIP.
Thanks!

Hi Tim,
Please run SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results.
A quick test here on a rectangle returns the area (latest WIP)
Yes, even with rectangle and then run Area command and nothing. Thanks, SystemInfo copied below:

Hi Tim -
Which command prompt mode are you using?
Could you post a screenshot of the Rhino UI?
-wim
Wim, I type in Area and then select the rectangle and enter, then the box disappears and no area given anywhere I can see. Have also tried with hatches and surfaces and also nothing. Thanks
The only thing I have found working is Area Dimension
Have you testet the “TextField” Area?

Hi Tim -
Yes. You have somehow chosen not to show the command history panel anywhere in your UI.
You can add the panel to the UI from the “Window” menu item:
You can also use the WindowLayout command to restore the “Default Window Layout” if you have no customizations that you would like to keep.
Apart from that, on macOS, you can pop up command history from the second icon from the left in the status bar:

Ah thanks! To save space I removed and then box appears when type command, but didn’t realise this meant wasn’t showing the Area results. In future do you know how to make command search appear without having to go to default window layout?

Hi Tim -
I’m not sure I fully understand the question.
Are you using Rhino 8 or Rhino 9?
Command history is generated with each command. If you want to see that history, you will need to have that panel open at all times. There is no way to make it appear after certain commands only. You could create a keyboard shortcut or button to open the panel when you want to see it, or a macro to run Area followed by CommandHistory. Or use the button on the bottom left as shown above.

I’m using Rhino WIP for Mac.
Command Search (where you type in requested Commands) and Command History are two different panels / boxes I can move around in window layout.
I can select Command History in Window / Panels, but If I close Command Search how do I get it back as can’t find in any menu?
Thanks!

Hi Tim -
If you have set the “Command window” to “Search” in Options -> General and the command search panel is not docked, then the search box automatically pops up when typing a command. If the command has options, a command option dialog appears. Once the command is finished, this dialog is automatically closed.

Great, thanks. And then if select Sidebar, keeps it on the side. All good to know.. I keep on learning…
