Does Rendered and Arctic modes supposed to look the same? I thought arctic is always white.

Is that a pictureframe object that has been modified? If so it has a per object displaymode override.

Also reset display mode settings under Tools > Options > Views > Display Modes

This is an image that is imported with _hightfield with added picture as material and pixel colors

Arctic and rendered haven’t been touched:

apparently when there is pixel colors Arctic displays the colors. also in v6

Thanks for reporting! It’s a bug, Arctic should not show the vertex colors. I’ve created a YT item: https://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-57467?project=RH
