Appearance of foreground objects with overhead projection

Hi,

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature but my issue is this:

I have a 3d-model with visible roof trusses:

I want the bottom plan view to show the trusses on the outside oft he building as stippled foreground objects. But right now i have to choose between:

  1. To move the trusses up so that none of their geometries lie within the level 1 span:

This causes the trusses to dissapear in the bottom plan view:

  2. move the trusses down into the level 1 span:

This causes the entire geometry of the trusses to appear in the bottom plan view:

But shouldnt the slab between bottom floor and 1st floor ‘block out’ the parts of the trusses that it ‘shades’ so that it appear like this (drawn manually):

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Hi Jens,
I may suggest you split the beams into two parts, (for each side of the wall), and go for your option 2, where the beams that are outside of the building are located within the span of the lower level, and displayed as overhead representation.

I will solve it like that. Thanks. I think in archicad you can shoose how many levels up or down an object gets projected - could be a nice quality of life improvement.

Well, this is something we can implement in future versions. I’ll let you know when this feature comes true.

Please also add per item linetype, scale etc settings, because the current global setting from options in too limiting, and usually for example beams have different overhead projection style compared to a canopy and/or other elements.
