Apparent Error in Rhino 8 tone printing

I use a white hatch (255,255,255) on a 74% transparent layer in model space to fade background objects in detail windows. For years this has printed like this (below) from pre-8 Rhino versions using the Rhino pdf driver. This is also what I also get when I print from my current Rhino 8 project after I’ve saved it as a Rhino 7 file:

You can see above that the background of the detail window is pure white, which is as desired. But Rhino 8 - with the same render settings and again using the Rhino pdf driver - prints the transparent pure white hatch as a tone of grey (below) rectangle making the boundary of the detail window undesirably stand out and reducing the impact of the linework overall. I can’t make the object any whiter, and the Render settings are the same, so I don’t see any way to remedy the situation.

Hi @djhg,
It would be super helpful of you could attached a sample file for us to test.

Also, include your most current Rhino SystemInfo.
And any setting or custom display modes that are required to see this issue here.

If you prefer to email me the file, that is fine too.
