Is there ANY way to shift the way any particular thread is displayed to show the LATEST responses and questions in a thread at the TOP of the thread as displayed ?
Scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and … … … .. . . . , to get to ANYTHING recent enough to be of any CURRENT value is ABSOLUTELY counter-productive !
well the system is set up so that it remembers your last position. if you choose to ignore all the rest of the topic and only want to see the latest responses you can also drag that blue block right to the bottom which is on the right side of each topic
Indeed . However that can OFTEN require extensively repeating the action. While that’s a survivable workaround, the continuity can best be served by reading the LATEST responses FIRST, then progressing through the history, one-response at a time, gathering “Context” as you go.
This can be especially important it the topic’s solutions have changed over time, as with the ongoing move to Linux, for instance.
STILL, your reply is both meaningful AND helpful (thanks!) , I’d just hoped there was a “way” and I was just missing it.
i have the feeling that there was a topic discussing this briefly, ok checking back you were actually the one requesting it in 2017 i am not sure anymore if that is an option that generally would have to be enabled by the staff or if discourse even has a feature for it at all.
@Gijs do you have insight if that can be enabled? i could not find a switch.
Click the time below the scrollbar, you’ll be jumped to the last post in the thread. Mousing over that time you’ll see a tooltip pop up that says “Jump to the last post”.
I’d upload a screenshot, but that is failing all the time.
correct it actually works, i had the feeling that was different in earlier versions, that it had to load subsequent passages and i had to tap end multiple times.. sorry my bad, i was not on a computer when i typed up the delusional stuff.
Thanks.
Browser dependent ?
Could BE, as I do NOT see a “Time” (to “click on”) at the bottom of my slider, and every time I drag the slider to the bottom, it loads to the point where I’ve dragged the slider, then jumps back up to about 75%, and will repeat this MANY times, until I FINALLY reach the bottom.
Could the developers managing THIS function ADD a direct DISCRETE pick to the TOP, if they aren’t able to add a selection to INVERT the order ?
If it helps, I’m using Brave browser on Win-10.THANKS !
