Any way to combine display modes 'arctic' and 'pen'?

Using a photo editor, I’ve been combining an ‘arctic’ ambient occlusion display mode with a ‘pen’ display mode. Looks good for some kinds of technical documentation. Is there a way to do this within Rhino?

Apologies if that’s obvious or as been asked before – I couldn’t find anything.

You can change the lighting scheme of the Pen display mode to Ambient occlusion and tweak some of the settings.

Oh yes, thanks. And ensure in Pen>Shadows>Shadows On. It works!

yes Shadows must be on of course

The effect of adding ambient occlusion to the pen mode is nicer that the ‘Arctic with Outlines’ that is included with McNeels’ advanced display modes templates here: https://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/6/advanceddisplay

The problem with adding outlines to Arctic (as opposed to adding AO to Pen) is that in Arctic, you can’t get a pen outline around, for instance, a sphere. Also, pen mode has a nice weighted modulation to line thickness.

Here, I’ve managed to upload it for anyone else: Pen with ambient occlusion.ini (11.5 KB)

“Go to the Tools menu > Options >View > Display Modes page and click Import . Navigate to the downloaded .ini files and import.”

Cheers.
