Any disadvantages to saving in Rhino 5 over 6?

So I use Dropbox to save files between a Macbook and more powerful Windows desktop. But Rhino for Mac can’t open Rhino6 files. Is there a way to automatically save every new file to Rhino 5 automatically without a prompt and always selecting SaveAs? Also, are any benefits of Rhino6 lost?
