Alias Menu "Notes" Column

I would love to see a “Notes” column in the Aliases and Keyboard menus.

Often times there is:

  • Some context or quirk to the reason an alias is named a specific way.
  • A less than obvious reason why it exists.
  • A note on how to use it that could be useful.
  • A warning or reminder about its use.

Example:
Alias: Make7
Command Macro: ! _-RunPythonScript “G:. . . Make2D_7Views.py” Notes: This alias will create all 7 standard 2d views (Make2d). By default, it uses the same settings as the last time Make2D was run.

When it’s solely my list, it is not terrible to keep a doc detailing these notes, but once the alias is shared, one now has related information that may be beneficial to the user that must be shared independent of the alias itself and remembered. A Notes or Comments column would directly tie the relevant information to the alias itself.
I’m not sure but am hoping there is a reserved character that could be used as a delineator in the text document that aliases get exported as to simplify the addition.

I’m interested to hear other’s thoughts. Is this something you would utilize?

Hi @RHammer
Great idea - I would use it for sure! I’m not in a multi-user environment, but I’m 50 years old and it’s all downhill from here :joy: I’ve got so many aliases (300+) that it’s starting to get a little hard to navigate sometimes. The WIP has a search/filter function for the aliases, which is a nice addition, I think
