Adjusting Dimension Attributes

I repeatedly have troubles adjusting all the facets of dimensions to make them look right. I’m including a file with the following questions…

  • How do I get the stringers (I think that’s what they’re called) on the 7.95 to position where the arrowheads are?
  • Why do so many dimensions not have stringers?
  • How can I get the left hand 1" text closer to the dimension line?
  • How can I set up dimension attributes globally? I can make mods on selected dimensions, but that’s it.
  • Is there a decent tutorial on the topic?
    thanks much,

Hi Rex -

I take it that you are referring to the “extension line”?
If your extension line offset is larger than the distance from the points to the dimension line, you will only see the part that remains of the extension line extension. So, in this case, you need to reduce the extension line offset.

Because the offset is larger than the distance.

You need to reduce the Font -> Text gap value.

Run DocumentProperties and, in the Annotation Styles section, modify your dimension styles.

I assume you have looked here - Rhino - Learn to use Rhino?
