It would be very useful, when presented with the layer dialog of “available layers”, if one could choose to not only create a new layer (as now) but also be able to create a new sub-layer for the elements one was wanting to move to the new layer.
As it is, you have to remember to create the empty layer before calling the layerchange command, or else back out of it, create the empty layer, and then repeat the process, which I find annoying as it breaks the workflow…
so instead of seeing just “copy/move to layer” you’d like "copy/move to sublayer " correct?
workflow would be
1.select object
2. select parent layer
3.right click to see copy/ move to new sublayer
4. rhino creates and copies or moves the selected geometry to a new sublayer of the original selected parent layer.
Currently we then get a dialog that displays available existing layers (and sub layers) and the options:
Select
Set the layer to current
New
If we choose “New” then we get a pop up asking us for the name of the new layer.
What I’d like is simply the additional option “New SubLayer” , so we could choose to create a new sublayer to an existing layer to put our object/s on.
