Acoustic study for street noise

@Arthur I would like to carry out an acoustic study to evaluate the street noise impacting my building façade. How can I do this? Is it possible to simulate it? Thank you.

Eduardo,

Yes, it is possible. You need to know a lot about the traffic, and then you can set up the line sources for the street.

You need the number of cars, medium trucks, heavy trucks, buses and motorcycles per hour. Then you use the command insert_linesource. Follow the prompts to set up an fhwa line source.

Once that’s set up, I would do a mapping calc as usual, but use the facade as the map, select the option to use the surface normal for receiver placement, and enable screen calcs. Since it is an outdoor calc, I would also not use convergence. Instead specify a very high number of rays, in the millions.

Let me know if you have questions.

Arthur
