Working on my deck and it made me wonder:
What methods do people use to “simulate” building with actual dimensional lumber? I imagine using actual size instead of nominal might be a good way, but figured I’d ask.
Typically yes, I’ll use the actual size if I’m using dimensional lumber. So a 2x4 will be 1.5" x 3.5". If it’s exceptionally critical (rarely, but it does happen) I’ll go out to the shop and measure the lumber itself to confirm.
