Access to 'cloudzoo_avatar_version.txt' is denied

Hi, i have recently bought a full licence after using the trial version for 90days.

when i tried to launch rhino 8 i get this error message, then Rhino shuts down

I have made sure the folders/ files are accessible and permissions are ‘allowed’,

i have reinstalled rhino and removed files etc.

I have turned off AVG and also made rules for Rhino so it is not blocked.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Try closing Rhino and deleting the contents of that folder. Reopen Rhino, login.

This does look like antivirus protection of some sort.

I have tried deleting the folders, switching off AVG, creating rules in AVG to allow Rhino, re-installing but nothing is working

Have you tried deleting the specific file in the error message? If so and it doesn’t fix the problem, what permissions does it have assigned in Windows?

yes tried that and it just reappears. strange thing is there is a 8.0 folder and installed is rhino 8. the problem folder is 6.0

That is the correct folder, its maintained to support legacy plugin licensing.

This really really looks to be a security configuration. Are you the admin or your machine managed?

SOLUTION FOUND:

the AppData folder was hidden, unchecked the box and i am in!

Thanks

Colin,
The appdata folder is meant to be hidden and unhiding it is not recommended. That was not the reason you had the problem…

what do you think the issue is then?

I don’t know, unfortunately. If it was my machine I’d run diagnostics to try and find out but it’s been too many years since I did that for a living to try and talk someone else through it.

If you fancy an experiment you could try re-ticking the hidden box and see if you still have access. if you do, put it down to experience and tiptoe away!

reticked the box and hidden the folders. Rhino is still working.

It may look for the file at a point in the future, so fingers crossed
