3dBox feature not working in 3d grid Paneling tools

Hi, I saw a video and tried to recreate the same thing. i checked the features and all the specifications in the command, however i wasn’t able to achieve the same result. The boxes, instead of staggering, have curved faces, which isn’t what i what. I ran the package manager and installer repair utility. Re-installed the plug-in multiple times but the problem still perists. For reference, I’m attaching both the video ss and the result that i’m getting when i try the same command. Pls suggest on how to fix the issue. I need it resolved ASAP.

Please start with uploading the file(s). So it can be checked. Regards, Eef

Also, please share what command you were running and what options did you use.
If you have a link to that tutorial or video you have a screenshot of, please share as well.

partition.3dm (6.1 MB)

I made a 2d grid of the base surface using the domain number command, and then tried to form the partition using the panel 3d grid command, but the box3d feature wasn’t working for me…the pyramid and wedge worked just fine…

In your file I could not find “boxes with curved faces”
The only boxes I could find look like this:

As you see very flat surface. I compared with a shot from your video:

Looks quit “equal” to me.

My Rhino version = Rhino 8 SR17 2025-2-25 (Rhino 8, 8.17.25056.13002)
Maybe you have different results because of other Rhino version?

sorry, i think i didn’t save the curved partition before uploading… the red boxes are the ones i copied to the points myself
i’m not able to upload the curved partition file as its too heavy…
there are two sets of groups of curved points in the file i uploaded above… when i select them and run the panel 3d grid command i’m getting this

partition-curved 002.3dm (7.4 MB)

reduced the file size…

OK, Now we see what’s it about.

What commands + options do you use (as @rajaa asked)

i just made a base surface, created the grid using domain number command and then ran the panel 3d grid command

Please details on the panel 3d grid command.
So we can follow you step by step.

Anyway, the surface you have is based on “curved” curves.
The four corner points on any panel will NOT be on the same plane.
That makes it impossible to create a planar panel.

I am not familiar enough with the Paneling tools, maybe there are options, what can compensate for this (forcing the cornerpoints to the same plane).

ran the command with these specifications, same as in the video

i want a curved or more acurately a staggering partition but for each module in it to be planar… these linear elements stagger and form a seemingly “curved” partition… the video which i refered to has been attached above

I tried to do the same in version 8. Takes too long. So hope somebody jumps in with more actual knowledge. And/or search on the forum for more explanation/instruction.
Good luck.
