Thanks Martin that sounds really interesting. have had a quick watch of Mikes Video, but definitely sounds like an interesting area to work in. I think part of the fasciation with these scans is similar to that with 3D printng where the common expectation of the results are much higher than what is acheived without soem serious extra effort and Input. do oyu have any videos of your process too? sounds like it could be very entertaining to watch.
Hi Dandid,
Ah, I see how I have confused you. Sorry.
I did the work for a company that purchased the scanner, they don’t manufacture them.
They initially contacted me to train their staff in working with scan data, we will still be doing that in the near future.
Perfect workflow.
The only difference is that I start with pointclouds, so I use “Cockroach” (free plugin) to do a Voxel reduction of the pointcloud, then also a Poisson Mesh creation, then to Quadremesh.
That makes much more sense to me now! - I’m really sorry if all this line of questioning has taken away from the original intention of the post where we all get to marvel at your work. it’s a beautiful bit of work, and from my very limited use of meshes in Rhino its really interesting to see work outside of curves and nurbs work.
This is mostly relative to users lacking access to good software or not – imo. Artec seems promising.
