nice work! When I have elements that need to rotate out of their object center, I’m often grouping it with a circle that has a radius slightly bigger than the part. This way the gumball will always revert to the correct pivot point. You can then also use the Circle’s start point to rotate it back to the original position easily.

Thanks for the advice. Later on I’ll post the helmet refinements with the various decorations and the 3D-printed model. For now, I’m sharing the file with the surfaces only, so if anyone wants to create helmet variants, feel free to do so — actually, it would be cool to see some variations.

@Gijs @theoutside Push or Pull should allow extrusion in both directions. I’m sharing the file: on the upper part of the helmet the command worked without issues, while on the lower part I encountered several problems with Push or Pull. In this case, a surface offset in both directions might have worked better, creating a final solid and then applying a Boolean Difference.

I left the left side of the helmet as it was before using Push or Pull, in order to run some tests.

You got some really impressive modelling skills, I hope I will reach this level one day surfaces are so smooth and satisfying to watch

Nice project!

Thanks a lot! Honestly, I don’t think I’m that good, there are definitely several surfaces that could be improved.
If you take a look at the file I shared, you’ll probably notice a few areas that still need refinement.
In the end, making all the parts fit together properly is the real challenge of this project.
Funny enough, it all started because a friend of mine was playing Dark Souls and wanted a helmet… and that’s how it began :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have not looked at the file but from the images looks smooth

I can take a look later but I’m no surface expert either my modells can use tons of improvements in sure :joy:

This is the current state of the 3D model. Enjoy.

Anyway, yesterday I was asked why some parts of the helmet are not joined. I explained it in the Italian forum—if you’re interested, here’s the link.

thanks i will have a look

almost fits :joy: nice model! would be cool to 3d print it with a functional visor mechanism that just snaps on and rotates it has a good base to add stuff on it i think

The 3D head model is awesome. Yes, the intention is definitely to 3D print it.

Nice work.

I’ve roughly finished fixing and adjusting the various parts. Now I’ll move on to designing the accessories, and later I’ll work on adding some decorative elements around the helmet. :alien_monster:

At the moment, I had to scale the helmet up slightly because it was too tight once the main part was 3D printed.
