VCarve, Corel, and Rhino

I use VCarve to generate code for my cnc router. I’ve draw something in Rhino that is a simple 2D cut. I’ve exported the file as a dxf, a dwg and an ai. I’ve tried both opening directly in Vcare and bouncing it thru Corel to turn it into an eps before opening in Vcarve.

Vcarve will open the files, but it sees what should be one simple continuous cut as 20 smaller cuts, all with their own starting and stopping point.

There has to be a simple solution to this, I just have no idea what it is.

thanks

I knew there was an easy solution. Make2d, then join all of the separate segments it creates before you export as AI.

There is a simpler solution, probably. I suspect you are using a DXF export scheme that explodes everything on export. If you used “Default” that is certainly the case.

Try using one of the other schemes like 2004 Natural, and go in there and uncheck “Explode polycurves”, and see if that doesn’t work better.

Thanks Mitch, I’ll give that a try next time.
