I have a question. When I scale my ring that is 17.45 mm Diameter by 5% it makes it 18.32 mm Diameter. I am using the 3d Scale command at ‘0’ and using 1.05 as the scale factor. This doesn’t seem right to me.
Any one know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Hi there,
I think you will find that 17.45 increased by 5% is 18.32 (rounded).

Google agrees with your answer.
17.45*1.05
Mark.
So in making a ring and scaling it by 5% is normal in jewelry. Seems like too much for shrinkage to me.

Hmmm… if it seems too much, use a smaller number :ø)
I don’t know anything about jewelry but the first few hits tell me to get closer to 3%
