Lights in a file will be ignored when inserted as a block

The lights in a file will be ignored when the file is inserted as a block into another file.

Just found this:

Is this true for now or for all time?
Is it a bug?

Yes. True for now; not for all time.

Yes, it is a bug.

Hey @dan ,

Sorry to be persistant as I posted about this in the previous thread to no avail: Light objects in blocks

Just wanted to know if there was any progress on this issue as it was first posted 5 years ago, is there a youtrack for it?

A YT item was created at the time but is visible to developers only.
A public duplicate item with comments is here: RH-48093.
There hasn’t been any progress on this issue.

I want to add my vote for this. There is a very reasonable use case for having lights in blocks. It allows you to manage assets much more efficiently. You can have lamps and shades files that you reuse from project to project with the light already included in it. If the light on the block shows up on the light table of the parent file then you can still manage it and override light parameters to suit.
