Full screen?

So, poking around on the new Macbook Air/Mountain Lion… I see that some applications can be full screen and I can use the fancy track pad swiping to zoot among full screen applications, very trick. But Rhino, does not do this, it does not show the expando arrows in the top-right that makes it full screen and so far it seems only to be on the desktop with non-maximized applications- is that correct?

Marlin showed me a new user interface that he was working on that allowed for the full screen mode. It may be hidden by a test command at the moment.

OK, thanks, I figured it was probably on the way.

@marlin, what is the status of this feature? Are we getting closer to the UI review we tried to schedule a couple months ago?

Yeah, we’re getting closer. This is what is getting my development attention these days.

It will be very helpful to have a Frame option for the app, specially if user is usign spaces. For example, if user is working in Rhino and is in Space 5 in a active file, closes it (Cmd+W), app still runs but no window. Open a Finder window and OS switches to Space 1, if you try to Alt+Tab to switch back to Rhino (Space 5) only the Up Bar will change from Finder to Rhino, but wont go to Space 5.

This is a very common issue with Adobe Apps, they implemented a Application Frame option in the Window Menu.

This way when Alt+Tab between apps it will go to the space where the app is.

I totally agree that an Application Frame and/or Full Screen mode should be added ASAP.

That’s good to know! Would it be possible to share any details about it? (features, release date…)
Hehehe…

No, I learned a long time ago to not announce to newsgroups what you cannot yet deliver. There will be an announcement when there is something to try.

Looking forward

Looking forward to what, exactly?
The feature that was requested in this thread (ref. MR-658) was implemented in Rhino 5.0 for Mac on 2014-05-20.

Fullscreen in Rhino 6 mac. Thanks

Thanks, Tobias.
I see now that Fullscreen is on the list of commands that is not in Rhino 6 for Mac (https://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/mac/rhino6wincommandsnotinrhino6mac).

After having searched through YouTrack, it appears to me that it is not possible to provide that functionality on the Mac platform. Perhaps @dan has more information on this.

@wim Thank for your helpful breadcrumbs and YouTrack sleuthing on this one. I finally had the time to parse this comment (not publically visible) and I think we should be able to implement Fullscreen now. I’ve logged:

RH-57947 Fullscreen command

Sorry this took so long to get around to. It’ll likely not take long to implement :crossed_fingers:

just to be sure, before i start dancing and making backflips, are you guys talking about the easy and non mac os native non (annyoingly animated) fullscreen, like windows without changing spaces?
